Bye, bye Mojacar and hello wild camping

Camping el Quinto, Mojacar Pueblo - Saturday 8th March

A much better day and it was warm - Tshirt weather.

We drove down to the Playa and the Parque Commercial as I wanted to go to the gift shop there.  It is two years since we were in Mojacar and there is some new pottery out now - I was very taken with it but ended up getting the same as usual, well I do like it.  We had a coffee and then decided to have a tostada for lunch.

I needed my glasses adjusting so a trip to the optician was in order. I picked one out of Google and found a lovely young optician who agreed that the glasses were very tight and adjusted them for free šŸ˜ƒ

From there we went to have a look at the ā€œ100ā€ Motorhomes at Palomares Playa that I had heard about.  Apparently it is/was one of the most popular places in the area and 100 is not an exaggeration, but they have all been kicked off and there is a sign saying no motorhomes.  I out something on Facebook and someone said that is has been done because of flooding but the sign looks pretty permanent to me.

We called in to the local supermarket and found all the motorhomes in their car park!

Rio had a lovely walk on Mojacar beach and then we retired back to Kiwi for the evening.

Camping el Quinto, Mojacar Pueblo - Sunday 9th March

A lovely sunny day with blue sky (for most of the time).

We went up to the Peublo for a coffee and a mooch.  I just canā€™t resist the gifty type shops!!  Having lost weight I was able to buy a hoodie - something I havenā€™t been able to do for years.

In these photos you can see a river, except that we have never seen water in it before.  It is called a rambla - a dry river bed.  There has been so much rain that it isnā€™t dry now!

We took Rio for his run on the beach and then went to Badgers for Sunday lunch, which was lovely as usual.  We didnā€™t fancy their puddings so walked down Albertoā€™s, not for sundaes this time, but tubs which we ate in the car as there was a very short, sharp shower.

Rio couldnā€™t believe his luck when he had another walk on the beach - I didnā€™t like to tell him that it was going to be the last one.  He found someone to play with.

Back to Kiwi where we sat out in the sun, we even put the awning out!

La Almadrada de Monteleva, Cabo de Gata - Monday 10th March

Another lovely day. We packed up and left Mojacar - we will be back.

Richard has changed one of the Calor bottles for a refillable one as you canā€™t get Calor in Europe, and it needed refilling.  I have an app called myLPG and I found a garage in Turre which refilled bottles.  We followed the directions to get there, all through the houses and struggling with one way streets.  When we found the ā€œgarageā€ it was a private house!  However, I could see a big Shell station so we moved over there and found the gas pump.  Richard struggled a bit and had to get help but he will know now!

We had a short drive down to Caba de Gata where I had found a free park up opposite the beach. It was a large area and we managed to get a front line spot. We must have timed it right as the area filled up as evening drew in.

I Took Rio for a lovely walk.  He ran up a low cliff, down again and then onto the beach, over and over again. He enjoyed it so much.

There was a lovely sunset, well it could have been better but it was the first one we had seen!
