What has happened to the rain in Spain??

Area Camper Castell, Castell de Ferro - Tuesday 11th March

Another wet day though there was a dry window in the afternoon.

Before we left the park up, Rio got out of the van and we could not catch him. It started to rain and we both got soaked. He came back to us when he was ready - not when we were!  He is getting a bit naughty about being caught.  I wonder if he is getting fed up of all the driving.

We drove south, in the rain, to Castell de Ferro. We were now in new territory - we had only been as far south as Almeria before.

Our site in Castell de Ferro was a bit weird!  It’s a bit like somewhere where they had demolished a house and used the area to make into a park up/site.  The facilities are good but it must be pretty awful in the summer as it is cramped but there were only 4 other vans there, so we were fine. We moored up under a sun canopy which we used to keep dry as we got in and out of Kiwi.

In the dry window we took Rio on the beach, it’s only about 200m away, then along the promenade. There were a couple of bars open and one restaurant.  We got back just before the rain came down again.

Forecast for tomorrow is good 😎

Area Camper Castell, Castell de Ferro - Wednesday 12th March

We woke up to sunshine 😄

We had decided to stay in Castell for another night as the forecast for the next day was diabolical but then it looks to be improving a bit.

There is a washing machine and tumble drier in a corner of the site, it’s only under a roof - no walls!  I decided to do a load of washing and it was dry in no time.

We walked along the promenade to where we had seen a restaurant that was open yesterday.  They have a pavement type cafe in a small marquee with a hard roof.  It was quite warm in there.  It was busy which is always a good sign.  We had the Menu del Dia which was 19 Euros for three courses.  The food was good, so excellent value.

I had passage planning to do which seemed to take ages. On Friday we leave the east coast and head across the mountains to just beyond Seville.

Rincon de la Victoria - Thursday 13th March

We knew it was going to be a wet day, and it was.

We packed up and left Castell de Ferro. The rain was threatening and then it lashed down, not nice at all. I was rather glad I wasn’t driving.

It was still pouring when we arrived in Rincon but we found our stop over fairly easily. It was a car park, but we knew what it was going to be. Spain has some strange areas for overnight motor home parking, car parks are quite common. There are no services except, maybe, for a bin. However, at least they provide somewhere to stop over whereas in England it is dreadful.

The beach at Rincon is covered with bamboo, quite where it has come from I don’t know!

We had our lunch then drove off to an out of town shopping area where there was a Carrefour but the majority of the parking was underground. It was back into the town where we found a Mercadona with some outside parking round the back.

Back to our car park (there were other Motorhomes) and waited for the rain to stop, but it didn’t!  I learned later that there had been a severe weather warning for the Malaga area!!  I can concur!

The beach photos were taken the following morning when it was quite nice.

I took these photos as we were leaving Rincon.
